This was an incredible sight! Late afternoon in Red Deer, Alberta – the clouds in the darkening sky were reflecting the colours of the setting sun. One spot held blue sky, a white cloud and what appeared to be one small segment of a rainbow. I’ve never seen anything like this!

It may have been a sun dog – I saw incredible ones last winter while I was driving on a highway – no way to take a photograph. This is a wonderful photo.
I’m pretty sure that’s what it was. They’re spectacular this time of year when the sun is low in the sky. Since I was in northern Alberta, the sun was much lower than what I’m used to.
